Phu Yen Travel (New Dak Lak): A Journey From Plateau to Ocean

Nestled beside the deep blue ribbon of the ocean, Phu Yen emerges like a majestic and pristine watercolor painting, making any traveler's heart skip a beat. No longer a "sleeping princess in the forest," this land of old Phu Yen tourism (new Dak Lak) is now strongly developing under Resolution 202/2025/QH15, becoming a unique heritage entity – where ancient rock formations, millions of years old, blend with the vibrant breath of the Central Highlands.

From the perspective of the Local Trips team, Phu Yen is not just about "yellow flowers on green grass." It is a journey of raw emotions: from the breathtaking moment of welcoming the sunrise at Mui Dien to the awe-inspiring handiwork of nature at Ganh Da Dia.

Geographical Location and Administrative Transformation

With a total area of ~18,096 km², the new Dak Lak becomes the largest province in the country, possessing terrain stretching from the plateau to the South Central Coast. This convergence promotes regional connectivity via National Highway 25 and National Highway 29, transforming Tuy Hoa into a strategic coastal city.

The new administrative structure focuses on Phu Yen Ward (the new center in the old Phu Lam area), creating momentum for the marine economy. Traditional landmarks such as Tuy Hoa Ward, Van Hoa Commune, or communes around O Loan Lagoon still maintain their inherent cultural identity.

When is the Best Time to Visit Phu Yen?

According to my Phu Yen travel experience, the ideal time to visit Phu Yen is from March to September. During this period, the weather is dry, sunny, and the sea is calm, making it very suitable for sightseeing, swimming, and outdoor activities. However, you should also avoid going during the rainy and stormy season (October - December).

Phu Yen has two distinct seasons: the dry season from January to August and the rainy season from September to December. The ideal time to visit Phu Yen is from January to August when the weather is dry and sunny, very convenient for beach activities and outdoor exploration. Especially, April to June is the best time when the sky is clear blue and the temperature is pleasant, very suitable for those who love photography and sightseeing.
